I spent last Sunday afternoon in the garden and away from school assignments. Putting my hands in the dirt is the best way I know to get out of my head. We had a fresh load of organic composted manure delivered a couple weeks ago at our first community garden work party of the season. So I raked and dug and weeded, planted a few peas along the fence. I was feeling pretty energized by the sun, so I launched into a major project, joining my two side-by-side plots into one. That left me with a pile of rotting wood and nowhere to dispose of it. We don’t have a dumpster or even a garbage can at our garden, so we have to rely on our own ingenuity when it comes to managing our waste. So I stacked it neatly at the back of my plot until I come up with a plan for my next sunny grounding.
