Norton Commons

Noticed one of the dwindling corner stores in my neighbourhood had gotten a facelift. Decided to check it out. Norton Commons offers a mix of local, sustainable fare, alongside the odds and ends and necessities that any corner store might offer. They’ve even kept the freezer with the ice cream bars and popsicles. On farmers market day during the winter, they will do a pick up of fresh bread and bring it back to the store, so you don’t have to make the trip to Nat Bailey. Julie Norton, the owner, did a beautiful job on the interior. The store has a lovely country feel to it. Too bad that she’ll likely be one of the casualties if Translink and the City decide to tunnel through Broadway to put in the SkyTrain line to UBC.
