I’m going to see my friend Deirdre in a play tonight. Dee, as I call her, is one of my best girls in the building. At our new year’s gathering she told us she was going to try some things that scared her in 2013. Now Deirdre has a dry and wicked sense of humour and she’s a lot of fun to hang out with, but I would not describe her as the performing type. So what did she do? She tried out for a musical theatre group! We didn’t even know she could sing! Apparently she can, because she passed the audition and is now part of the Broadway Chorus.
Her premiere show runs through Saturday. It’s called Dunce Upon a Time. Check it out. Sounds hilarious. Here’s part of the blurb from their website. Break a leg Dee!
For Jane and her life partner Brandon, the move to exclusive West Shaughnessy Dale seems too good to be true. It is. For behind the neighbourhood’s idyllic facade lies a terrible secret … a secret so devastating that no one who discovers it will survive unscathed. Will they triumph over the unexpected, while breaking into song and dance at intervals to express emotions too strong to merely speak?
