I’ve been trying to get to Festival du Bois for the last few years. This year, a friend and I planned to go opening day of this fun French festival. But, when we looked on the website, it didn’t seem like much was happening on Friday. Maillardville’s giant music festival celebrates Quebecois and Celtic culture over the next three days (March 1-3) in Mackin Park, Coquitlam. It’s an opportunity to practice my French (translation: eat poutine and maple taffy on snow). Now another friend and I have decided to try for Saturday afternoon. But already he’s emailing me: what if it’s pouring rain, do we still want to go? Il y a un grand chapiteau (big tent), je repond. The sugar shack is calling me.
